I think of life’s energies like a bucket – when you’re under stress that bucket can become very leaky and unless it’s filled you can feel very drained, physically, emotionally and mentally. So the trick is to keep it topped up.
You shouldn’t rely on others to top it up. You can keep your own bucket replenished.
I firmly believe that life’s bucket is always replenishable whatever your age or past experiences. There will always be some leaky holes but if you actively seek to fill that bucket at a greater rate than it leaks out, then you will be winning.
Replenishment can come in many forms, ranging from small moments of pleasure through to life-changing events. Becoming absorbed in creative activities, laughing with friends, walking in nature, stroking your cat, phoning your friend for a chat are all activities that can serve to fill your energy bucket.
Focus on actively increasing those positive moments in life, however small. When life’s inevitable challenges endeavour to drain your reserves, seek to increase positive experiences to maintain balance.
The good news is that if you help others to refill their buckets you’ll find it’s a win win situation because yours will replenish too.
