We need to be in a state that is conducive to healing and repair in order to heal and repair and even sleep well. That may seem like a blindingly obvious statement but it’s not one I’d thought about enough until I came across a quote by Psychologist, Dr Alex Howard who said “We need to be in a state of healing to heal.”
Many, if not most people who live with challenging long-term medical issues including pain, fibromyalgia, ME/CFS, long covid go to their doctors in a state of stress or distress. So my question is – “Should be we helping them find a state of healing as a first step in their treatment?” If we can achieve this, or moments of this state, then surely any treatment or medication will also work better?
